Job Summary

Reporting to the General Manager, this position’s primary objective is to coordinate, implement, and maintain the site’s health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in accordance with governmental and company guidelines. The incumbent will work with all departments to ensure the safe and environmentally-friendly production and shipment of products. Responsibilities include conducting employee and contractor training, H&S drills, evacuations, audits, preparing environmental reports, and supporting continuous improvement in the site’s H&S management system and safety culture.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and implementing site-specific health, safety, industrial hygiene, environmental, and security policies in compliance with regulations.
  • Provide guidance and support on H&S and environmental issues.
  • Identify and evaluate risks, ensuring proper control measures are in place.
  • Coach and mentor staff on safe work practices.
  • Develop and deliver effective H&S and environmental training.
  • Perform inspections, audits, drills, and assessments to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor and report on key H&S and environmental performance indicators.
  • Ensure timely completion of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Investigate incidents and ensure proper escalation and corrective measures.
  • Conduct industrial hygiene assessments per the monitoring plan.
  • Validate fire safety systems are functional.
  • Act as the primary contact for external regulators.
  • Track injuries, near misses, safety observations, and property damage incidents.
  • Stay current on regulations and trends.
  • Complete and submit regulatory reports.
  • Ensure environmental inspections are conducted and documented.
  • Manage waste disposal to ensure compliance.
  • Identify and implement sustainability projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field, or 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to influence others and present recommendations.
  • Effective team collaboration skills.
  • Understanding of relevant standards and regulations.
  • Creative thinking and multitasking skills.
  • Basic technical knowledge of H&S elements.
  • Experience with voluntary protection programs or ISO management systems is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular hours as needed.
Work Environment
  • Respond to emergencies outside normal hours.

  • Operate around powered equipment and at heights.
