Job summary

Municipal Group of Companies is seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to support operations with guidance, training, and practical safety solutions that reinforce a strong safety culture. Construction experience and a strong work ethic are valued, with full training and mentorship provided, and travel across Nova Scotia required.

The role focuses on coaching, site visits, incident investigations, audits, and safety reporting to leadership.

Qualifications

• Construction experience and training preferred
• Strong communication skills — verbal, written, and interpersonal
• Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work independently
• Competent with Microsoft Office and safety management software (e.g. eCompliance)
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License
• Must be willing and able to travel within Nova Scotia

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor employees on safety programs, policies, and procedures
• Conduct regular site visits and inspections to promote best practices
• Investigate incidents and near-misses and help develop corrective measures
• Promote open dialogue about safety issues and accountability
• Participate in audits (COR) and assist with safety certifications
• Assist with compiling safety metrics and reporting for leadership

Job Summary

A Health and Safety Advisor partners with operations teams to provide guidance, support, and practical solutions that reinforce a positive safety culture and drive safe work practices.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor employees and supervisors on safety programs, policies, and procedures
• Conduct regular site visits and inspections to encourage best practices
• Investigate incidents and near-misses and help develop corrective and preventive measures
• Promote open dialogue around safety issues and encourage a culture of accountability and care
• Participate in audits (COR) and contribute to the maintenance of safety certifications
• Assist with compiling safety metrics and reporting for leadership
• All other duties as required
