Job summary

CIBC is seeking a Senior Director, Applied AI and Quantum Research to lead the enterprise research agenda, shape strategy, and mentor researchers. You’ll champion responsible innovation and partner across AI delivery, architecture, and governance to translate research into scalable solutions.

Hybrid work model in Toronto, with 2–4 days on-site and remaining days remote, enabling collaboration with business and technology leaders while ensuring regulatory alignment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in AI technologies, AI solutions, and delivery.
• 3+ years in leadership roles with responsibility for strategy, execution, and team development.
• Experience in governance, risk practices and responsible deployment of AI/ML.

Responsibilities

• Lead the enterprise applied AI and quantum research roadmap.
• Drive structured experimentation, benchmarking, and production-ready solutions.
• Partner with AI Delivery, Architecture, Technology, and MLOps for deployment and monitoring.
• Promote Responsible AI practices and enterprise governance alignment with OSFI and internal controls.
• Build trusted partnerships with executives, academia, industry, and vendors to scale innovation.
