Job summary

Holy Spirit Catholic School Division seeks a Head Caretaker for St. Kateri Elementary School in Lethbridge. The role is a continuous 35.0 hour per week position starting November 2, 2026, at a K-6 school on the west side of Lethbridge under CUPE 290.

The Head Caretaker will maintain a safe, clean environment, supervise caretakers, and apply strong maintenance skills. Applicants must provide required documents prior to employment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required or equivalent.
• ABSA Class 5 Power Engineer certification or equivalent.
• First Aid and WHMIS certificates.
• Hydraulic Ladder Training (Mobile Aerial Work Platform).
• Confined Space Entry and Rescue Training.
• Fall Protection Training; Ladder Safety Training.

Responsibilities

• Provide and maintain a safe, clean environment for the school and community.
• Supervise and train Caretakers at St. Kateri Elementary.
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Work in accordance with CUPE 290 collective agreement.

HEAD CARETAKER – St. Kateri Elementary School

This position is open to all internal and external candidates. Prior to employment, successful applicants must provide supporting documents as outlined on our New Employees page.

We are looking to hire a continuous 35.0 hour per week Head Caretaker to work at St. Kateri Elementary School in Lethbridge. This assignment is to commence November 2, 2026. St. Kateri Elementary School is the newest addition to our Holy Spirit schools. It is a K-6 school on the west side of Lethbridge with a scheduled opening in the 2026/2027 school year. This position is covered by the CUPE 290 collective agreement.

The Head Caretaker is responsible for providing and maintaining a safe and clean environment for their school and its community. The Head Caretaker supervises and trains Caretakers at their assigned school. The Head Caretaker demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of cleaning and general maintenance. The work may require strenuous physical effort to complete all duties alongside Caretakers. The Head Caretaker must be able to complete all work tasks to a high degree of satisfaction.

Education

• High School Diploma;
• ABSA Class 5 Power Engineer (above or equivalent);
• First Aid certificate;
• WHMIS certificate;
• Hydraulic Ladder Training (Mobile Aerial Work Platform);
• Confined Space Entry and Rescue Training;

Work Experience

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Caretaker.
