Job summary

Kal Tire in Fort St John, BC is seeking a Journeyperson/Journeyman Heavy Duty Technician to perform routine maintenance and complex repairs on semi-trucks, conduct diagnostics, and handle electrical work in a safety‑conscious shop. Fully licensed technicians with at least 3 years of hands‑on experience in front‑end brakes, shocks and wheel alignments are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Fully licensed as a Heavy Duty Technician (Journeyperson/Journeyman or Red Seal)
• A valid driver’s license
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with front-end brakes, shocks, and wheel alignments
• Experience in inspections, diagnostics, adjustments, servicing, and repairs on a variety of vehicles
• Attention to detail with a methodical approach to problem-solving

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of general mechanical services, including brake and suspension repairs, engine diagnostics, and routine maintenance.
• Mentor and coach apprentices by sharing expertise and supporting skill development in a learning-focused environment.
• Collaborate with a skilled team while working on various vehicles, from standard passenger cars to light trucks.
• Identify potential mechanical service opportunities in partnership with the Sales team.
• Maintain the highest standards of safety and quality in all tasks.

Qualifications

• A valid driver’s license

• Demonstrates excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem‑solving
