Hardware Engineering Applications System Administrator
Overview

Insight Global is seeking a highly technical and execution-driven Hardware Engineering Applications System Administrator to support the engineering applications ecosystem for the Hardware Platform Solutions (HPS) group.

In this role, you’ll directly impact engineering productivity by managing and optimizing complex R&D toolchains across 12 global design centers. You’ll work at the intersection of hardware engineering, DevOps, and system administration, enabling seamless onboarding, eliminating environment blockers, and accelerating product development cycles.

Key Responsibilities

Application Operations & Onboarding

  • Execute automated onboarding and provisioning processes to enable rapid new hire productivity
  • Install, configure, and maintain specialized R&D applications across lab and cloud environments
  • Provide hands‑on troubleshooting and support for engineering environment issues
  • Deploy and administer EDA/CAD tools (e.g., Cadence, Synopsys, Ansys, PTC)
  • Manage complex, multi-domain toolchains (mechanical, electrical, FPGA, SI/PI, optics)
  • Operate and maintain license servers (FlexLM, RMS), including usage tracking and optimization

DevOps, Software & Lab Support

  • Support DevOps and ALM ecosystems (Azure DevOps, Jira, Git, CI/CD pipelines)
  • Maintain containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Support secure firmware toolchains and validation tools (e.g., BIOS/BMC, Black Duck, Coverity)
  • Ensure availability and synchronization of lab validation environments and tools
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise IT system administration or application engineering
  • 2+ years supporting R&D or engineering teams
Technical Expertise
  • License management systems (FlexLM, RMS)
Core Competencies
  • Strong troubleshooting skills within complex, secure engineering environments
  • Ability to create clear, detailed technical documentation
  • Proven ability to support high‑performance engineering teams
Compensation

$45/hr to $60/hr (exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and education).

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as short‑term and long‑term disability, life insurance and AD&D. Employees will also have access to a registered retirement savings account with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
