Job summary

Miovision is seeking a Hardware Designer to join our Electrical Team. You will design PCBs and hardware modules, drive in-life product updates, and collaborate with Mechanical, Firmware, and Quality teams to ensure robust hardware tools and processes.

You will also craft test fixtures, manage vendor relations, and contribute to manufacturing readiness. The role emphasizes hands-on debugging, complex multi-layer designs, and high-speed interfaces.

Qualifications

• Experience designing electronics using CAD tools (Altium, Arena PLM).
• Skilled PCB debugging with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, soldering irons).
• Ability to drive hardware projects from concept to production.

Position Summary:

At Miovision, we are engineering the future of smart transportation, and to keep global traffic flowing, we need a Hardware Designer who knows how to navigate the complex intersections of product development. Joining our Electrical Team, you will merge into projects across our Core, Scout, and Opticom product lines. Whether you are laying down the asphalt for new PCB designs, steering in-life products through supply chain detours, or building manufacturing test fixtures, you will be the engine keeping our hardware running smoothly. Objectives and Responsibilities:

• Circuit & PCB Design: Design modules, subsystems, schematics, and PCB layouts for new products—handling everything from complex integrated circuits to passive components—while hitting strict schedule and budget targets.

• Product Evolution: Drive updates for in-life products, smoothly managing supply chain shortages, executing cost reductions, and implementing critical process improvements.

• Validation & Testing: Bring up new hardware, craft rigorous test plans, and execute comprehensive power supply and signal integrity validation.

• Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate closely with our Quality team to successfully certify products against global regulatory standards (including IC/FCC and PTCRB).

• Tooling & Fixtures: Design robust manufacturing test fixtures, complete with custom cabling and specialized PCBs.

• Debugging & Documentation: Troubleshoot and debug board- and system-level problems to meet exact product requirements, while producing crystal-clear electrical design documentation.

• Lifecycle & Vendor Management: Manage the release of PCB designs to internal PLM systems and external Contract Manufacturers, actively managing hardware vendors

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Participate heavily in design reviews and collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams (Mechanical, Firmware, Quality) to elevate our hardware tools, libraries, and processes.

The Ideal Profile:

• The CAD Enthusiast: You are experienced in designing electronics using modern CAD tools. (Altium Designer and Arena PLM are our jams, but experience with Cadence, KiCad, or Eagle works too!).

• The Lab Tinkerer: You are completely in your element debugging and validating PCBs with standard lab equipment—oscilloscopes, multimeters, and soldering irons are your trusted tools.

• The Technical Problem Solver: You are exceptionally data-driven, eager to dig deep into technical details to truly understand a system or root-cause a complex problem.

• The Advanced Designer: You bring extra horsepower if you have experience designing multilayer circuit boards, high-speed digital interfaces (PCIe, USB3), switch-mode power supplies, or microprocessor-based products.

• The AI Adopter: You are forward-thinking and highly comfortable utilizing modern AI tools (like Gemini, AMP, or Claude) for deep research, analysis, and engineering tool development.

• The Collaborative Team Player: You thrive in a multidisciplinary environment, easily collaborating both in-person and virtually, and you treat giving and receiving constructive feedback as a professional superpower.
