Job summary

Altis Technology is seeking an experienced Hardware and System Designer in Gatineau, QC. This permanent, full-time role combines hands-on electronic design with system integration across telecom platforms.

You will drive all phases from concept through production, verify designs, test against standards, and document outcomes while collaborating with system engineers and product teams.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4+ years in hardware or systems design
  • University degree in Electrical/Computer engineering or CS
  • Experience designing electronic circuits and working with IP and network protocols
  • Knowledge of RTOS, embedded systems, and real-time communication protocols is a plus
  • Interest in client-server architectures and telecom control systems
  • Understanding of hardware development and full product lifecycle
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Ability to meet timelines and budgets

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all phases of product development from concept to production release
  • Perform design verification, regulatory testing, and prepare technical documentation and test plans
  • Evaluate and select components ensuring interoperability and compliance
  • Contribute to system architecture, assist with prototyping, analyze detailed specs
  • Define system specs, qualification tests, and develop compliant designs
  • Integrate and test third-party equipment, embedded systems, RTOS, and Windows-based software
  • Troubleshoot complex issues and guide architecture and technology choices
  • Take ownership of assigned design work and provide technical leadership

We are seeking an experienced Hardware and System Designer to join our client in the telecommunications sector. In this role you will design and integrate electronic systems and components that bring next generation communication products to life. You will collaborate with system engineers, product teams, and technical specialists to shape solutions used across complex telecom environments.

Your Responsibilities
  • You will participate in all phases of product development, from concept to production release.

Skills and Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in a similar hardware or systems design role.
  • University degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Experience designing electronic circuits and working with IP and network protocols.
  • Knowledge of RTOS, embedded systems, and real time communication protocols is an asset.
  • Strong interest in client server architectures and telecom control systems.
  • General understanding of hardware development and the full product lifecycle.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Knowledge of French is an asset)
  • Ability to meet timelines and work within project budgets.
