Hardware Designer (Embedded)-Onsite Position

Are you an innovative and flexible self-starter? Do you have keen engineering skills? We’re looking for highly motivated hardware designers who live and breathe embedded hardware design to help us create the latest in embedded systems technology. We need enthusiastic team players who want to share, discuss, and brainstorm ideas with our top-notch engineering team at our dynamic organization in Ottawa, ON!

Responsibilities:

  1. Engineer, design, develop, and test new embedded hardware at the forefront of technology.
  2. Support and enhance existing embedded hardware.
  3. Apply established development processes and assist in process improvement.
  4. Analyze requirements, research and identify solutions, and develop the design.
  5. Generate complete and accurate user and design documentation.
  6. Provide input to architecture and design reviews.
  7. Provide input and evaluation of new technologies and products.
  8. Keep current with embedded hardware trends and share knowledge.
  9. Contribute to the release of manufacturing technical data packages for products.
  10. Participate in maintaining a positive and productive atmosphere within the team.

What You Bring:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Computer or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent.
  2. 5+ years board-level development and hands-on lab experience (Co-Op experience is applicable).
  3. Experience working with a multi-disciplined team.
  4. Familiarity with a product development process.
  5. Familiarity with hardware test equipment – logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
  6. Familiarity with principles of high-speed digital circuit board design including signal integrity concepts.
  7. Experience with design capture tools (preferably Mentor Graphics).
  8. Experience with requirements capture, analysis, and tracking.
  9. Hobby projects with Raspberry Pi and/or Arduino.
  10. Familiarity with FPGAs.
  11. A passion for following the latest trends in the world of computing.
  12. A driven and motivated self-starter with a keen interest to learn.
  13. A strong understanding of electronics and engineering principles and application to real-world use.
  14. A strong sense of responsibility, commitment to quality, and achieving deadlines.
  15. Strong debug and problem-solving skills.
  16. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  17. Results-oriented team player who leads by example, holds themselves accountable for performance, takes ownership of their responsibilities, and champions process improvement initiatives.
