Job summary

RWDI in Guelph, ON invites applications for a four‑month Model Builder Co‑op. You will support RWDI’s Model Shop by constructing physical scale models used for environmental testing in our wind tunnels.

Ideal candidates have hands‑on building experience, strong 3D spatial thinking, and familiarity with AutoCAD. You will work with materials like acrylic, styrene and foam, using hand tools to build accurate, durable components in a collaborative team environment. This role begins January 2027.

Qualifications

• Hands‑on building or crafting experience is preferred.
• Ability to construct detailed scale models using acrylic, styrene, foam, etc.
• Strong 3D spatial thinking is essential.
• Good hand skills with small hand and power tools, solvents, and glues.
• Experience with AutoCAD; Rhino Sphere is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Build cityscapes at scales of 1:300 to 1:400.
• Work with foam and other model materials to create accurate components.
• Interpret technical drawings and photographs for precision.
• Use hand tools and shop equipment to assemble model elements.
• Collaborate with a team to support engineering and environmental analysis.
