Job summary

ADI - Albert Davidson Industries in Montréal is seeking a Conventional Machinist to support polyurethane manufacturing. The role blends hands-on machine work (65%) with planning, supervision, and coordination (35%).

You will collaborate with the owner and team to meet safety and quality standards and drive productivity improvements. We value strong organization, effective communication, and the ability to work independently on lathes and mills.

Qualifications

• Experience as a conventional/manual machinist or similar role.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment (calipers and micrometers).
• Ability to set up and operate manual lathes and milling machines independently.
• Shop-floor experience in manufacturing, molding, or polyurethane is a plus.
• Strong organization and priority management in a small team.
• Clear communication and lead-by-example attitude.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate conventional/manual machine tools (lathes, mills, drills, saws).
• Machine parts, tooling, molds, fixtures to drawings or samples.
• Read drawings, tolerances, and material requirements from work orders.
• Select tooling, speeds, feeds, and workholding methods.
• Measure finished work with calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Carry out basic layout, drilling, boring, turning, milling, threading, deburring.
• Modify and maintain production tooling and equipment.
• Collaborate with production/engineering to improve manufacturability.
• Keep work areas clean and organized; ensure safety standards.
• Report issues to supervisor and assist with fabrication as needed.
