Métaux Produits D.T., a leader in metal processing since 1986, is looking for talented individuals who share our passion for innovation and precision. The company emphasizes teamwork, innovation, and excellence in its operations.
Responsibilities
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings: The machinist must be able to read and understand technical drawings, diagrams, and specifications (tolerances, surface finishes, dimensions, etc.) to visualize the final part and plan the manufacturing steps.
- Programming and/or setting up machine tools:
- Conventional machines: Set up lathes, milling machines, drills, grinders, etc., by adjusting cutting speeds, feeds, and correctly positioning tools and parts.
- CNC machines: Load programs (G-code), set up machines, select appropriate tools, and monitor program execution. For more advanced machinists, this also includes the ability to modify or create CNC programs.
- Tool and material selection: Choose the right cutting tools (milling cutters, drills, inserts) and raw materials (types of metals, plastics) based on plan specifications and material properties.
- Part machining: Operate machine tools to remove material and shape the part according to required dimensions and tolerances. This involves constant monitoring of the process to detect potential problems (vibrations, tool wear, etc.).
- Quality control and metrology: Measure machined parts using precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, comparators, gauges) to verify that they meet specified tolerances. Ensure parts comply before moving to the “next step or” being delivered.
- Preventive maintenance: Perform basic machine maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, checking oil levels) to ensure proper functioning and extend their lifespan.
- Problem-solving: Identify and resolve problems that arise during machining (e.g., broken tools, part deviation, program errors).
- Adherence to safety standards: Strictly apply workshop safety rules, wear personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- The machinist plays a crucial role in the manufacturing industry, transforming raw materials into precise and functional components for a multitude of sectors.
