HACCP COORDINATOR - MOUNTAIN CREEK FARMS - CALGARY, AB

With approximately 3,300 employees, JBS Food Canada ULC (“JBS Canada”) is one of the largest employers in southern Alberta and one of Canada's largest beef processors. We operate three locations: the Head Office and a Case Ready plant in Calgary, Alberta, and a processing facility in Brooks, Alberta, where approximately 4,200 cattle are processed daily. Our Brooks facility produces products such as boxed beef primals, ground beef, beef trimmings, by-products, and hides, shipped across Canada and worldwide. At Mountain Creek Farms in Calgary, we produce value-added products including marinated, portion-sized, multi-pack options, kebabs, and more.

JBS/MCF is seeking an experienced, diligent HACCP Coordinator to join our team. This role will collaborate with our production team to monitor and ensure the highest quality of our handmade products.

Please note: This position is located in Calgary, Alberta.

You have:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of HACCP experience in a fast-paced food industry environment.
  • Relevant post-secondary education in Food Science or related field.
  • Food Industry training is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP principles.
  • Understanding of ISO 17025 standards is an asset.
  • Ability to take initiative and complete tasks independently.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to make quick, logical decisions based on risk assessment.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Capacity to work efficiently in a decentralized environment with minimal supervision.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to coordinate with other departments.
  • Commitment to safety and efficiency.

You will:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the HACCP system.
  • Maintain GFSI quality system standards.
  • Set and monitor standards in production, shipping, receiving, and packaging areas.
  • Act as liaison with auditors and regulators.
  • Create documentation to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records for audits.
  • Communicate standards to management and staff.
  • Monitor and achieve yearly objectives.
  • Train employees on compliance programs.
  • Update HACCP and verification programs.
  • Perform record checks and onsite verifications.
  • Create SOPs, training materials, and foster a safety culture.
  • Collaborate with CFIA Inspectors, Operations, and QA teams on food safety issues.
  • Assist with audits, policies, customer complaints, testing, and special projects.
  • Maintain document control and review policies annually.
  • Provide backup support to QA Technicians.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Work environment includes office settings and cold environments during part of each day.
