Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1 to 3 years' experience in a related Dispatcher role or logistics position preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record.
  • Excellent customer service skills essential.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and follow up on deliveries and supplier pickups according to schedules and commitments.
  • Maintain constant communication with drivers and customers about order status.
  • Assign deliveries to drivers, optimize routes by location and priority.
  • Schedule workforce with Store Manager to reduce delays and meet time expectations.
  • Distribute fleet keys, fuel cards, phones, and documentation to drivers.
  • Enter delivery times into tracking system or logs for accuracy.
  • Verify returns and credits with sales team when applicable.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare orders for delivery; ensure accuracy.
  • Support daily/weekly/monthly truck inspections and arrange repairs when needed.
  • Contribute to store cleanliness, organization, and maintenance.
  • Make deliveries as required.
  • In some locations, assist with opening/closing and administrative duties.

Your Daily Contribution & Impact:
  • Coordinate and follow up on activities relative to customer deliveries and supplier pick-ups, according to schedules, customer service promises, needs of inside and outside sales team members.
  • Maintain constant communication with drivers in transit, or with customers about the status of orders
  • Ensure efficient driving routes and assign deliveries to drivers based on location and priority
  • Schedule workforce in collaboration with Store Manager and coordinate the work of the drivers to reduce delay and meet time expectations
  • Distribute fleet vehicles, keys, company fuel cards, phones, record keeping forms and parts deliveries to drivers
  • Ensure drivers enter delivery times into delivery tracking system, if available, or onto manual sheets
  • Verify returns of customers' goods before credits are completed by the sales team, if applicable
  • Pick and pack orders and ensure orders are accurate and ready for delivery
  • Conduct/support daily, weekly, monthly inspections of trucks and scheduled maintenance in conjunction with Store Manager and ensures reporting of any accidents as required
  • Schedule vehicle repairs with local repair facilities and communicate vehicle issues to management
  • Play an active role in the store’s cleanliness, organization and maintenance
  • Make deliveries as required
  • Dispatcher in certain locations may also be responsible for the opening and closing of the facility, providing customer service and administration duties
Expertise & Essential Skills:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1 to 3 years' experience in related position
  • Valid driver's license and good record of conduct
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Lifting of heavy equipment of up to 50 pounds
