Job summary

Swissport International AG seeks a GSE Mechanic to maintain ground support equipment at our Ottawa station. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and overhauls on powerplants, drivetrains, hydraulics, brakes and electrical systems to ensure safe, compliant operation.

The role requires 1–3 years in GSE maintenance, a valid driver's license with ability to obtain a YOW D/A license, English/French communication skills, and a willingness to travel for training or to support

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in GSE Maintenance
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain/maintain YOW D/A license
• Flexible to work on various shifts (morning/day/evening/weekends)
• Certification: Heavy Duty/Commercial or Automotive Mechanic in good standing
• Good oral and written English and French communication
• Willing to travel for training or to assist other SP stations as needed
• Proficient in diesel engine diagnosis/repair, basic welding, hydraulic basics
• Must obtain/maintain Transport Canada Security Clearance
• Must possess your own tools

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on all GSE per established schedules
• Respond to after‑hours on‑call maintenance as needed
• Provide troubleshooting and diagnostics for GSE
• Modify/overhaul powerplant, drivetrain, brakes, electric and hydraulic systems
• Prepare/paint GSE to Swissport standards
• Operate and drive all types of equipment
• Remove malfunctioning GSE from service until repaired
• Respond to emergencies and accidents involving GSE
• Procure parts and materials for maintenance/repair
• Maintain proper use of tools and diagnostic equipment
• Complete all maintenance/repair documentation per requirements
• Comply with security and safety regulations
• Maintain valid motor vehicle license for airside/non-airside
• Follow safety guidelines (WCB, EPA, WHMIS)
• Keep GSE shop clean and report deficiencies
• Fuel equipment with safety/environmental practices
• Liaise professionally with Ramp, customers and staff
