Job summary

Air Canada in Montreal is seeking a permanent full-time Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic to service and repair a broad range of airport equipment on site. You will read schematics, troubleshoot with diagnostics, and perform preventative and corrective maintenance in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

Requirements include a High School diploma, CPA Card at 1st/2nd/3rd level, provincial license/endorsement for Automotive Service Technician, Heavy Duty, or Truck & Coach, and at

Qualifications

  • High School diploma is required.
  • Must have CPA Card: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd level Mechanic.
  • Must hold a valid provincial license/endorsement as an Automotive Service Technician, Heavy Duty, and/or Truck and Coach.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the trade.
  • Must pass pre-employment exam and meet safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe preventative and repair maintenance to equipment used in airport ground operations.
  • Read and interpret schematic diagrams for maintenance troubleshooting; use diagnostic tools.
  • Work with drive-trains, diesel/gas engines; anticipate electrical/hydraulic systems needs.
  • Maintain a customer-focused attitude in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

Air Canada is presently looking for for a dynamic individual to fill a permanent full- time position as a Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic.


The GSE maintenance professionals should have the following skill sets:



  • Provide safe preventative and repair maintenance to a wide variety of equipment used within airports ground operations in accordance with all applicable regulations and codes

  • Knowledge of drive-trains, diesel and gasoline engines. Working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems, metal fabrication and welding would be an asset.

  • Candidates should be able to read and understand various schematic diagrams for maintenance troubleshooting and be proficient with computers and diagnostic tools.

  • Individuals need to be "team players" with excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to maintain a customer-focused attitude in a demanding, high-stress environment.

Qualifications


  • High School diploma.

  • Must have CPA Card: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd level Mechanic

  • Must hold a valid provincial license/endorsement as an Automotive Service Technician, Heavy Duty, and/or Truck and Coach, as recognized by the applicable provincial authority or the Red Seal Program.

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the trade.

  • Able to successfully pass the pre-employment qualifying exam.

  • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.

  • Employees in this role, conduct safety-critical work and as such, Air Canada medical standards must be met in order to qualify for the role. Candidates will be subject to a medical evaluation, including a drug and alcohol test and are expected to be free of any intoxicating substances.

  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the country of interest at the time any offer of employment is made and seeking any required work permits/visas or other authorizations which may be required is the sole responsibility of the candidates applying for this position.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations. Please refer to the Transport Canada site for more details.


Assets


  • Inter-Provincial Red Seal preferred, but not required

  • Advanced Fuel Injection & Diesel Engine Tune-Up certificates/licenses.

  • Air Conditioning and Refrigeration certificates/licenses.

  • Propane Fuel Systems certificates/licenses.

  • Automotive Inspection certificate/licenses.

  • Previous experience maintaining mobile ground power (generators), air conditioners (up to 110 ton), air start units (compressors up to 250 cfm), but will also consider experience in Farm or Heavy Industrial equipment.

  • Current security clearance
