Role Overview

As a Group Underwriter, you will collaborate with the team to ensure Medavie Blue Cross meets its financial targets in group health, life, and disability income lines of business.

Key Responsibilities

1. Establish renewal pricing by analyzing experience/trends, justifying the renewal reasons, and recommending pricing options. Respond to client inquiries related to pricing and experience.
2. Set rates for new group business and address financial questions within the specified guidelines.
3. Prepare financial statements for ASO and Retention groups in accordance with financial agreements.
4. Draft and update financial agreements.
5. Ensure underwriting targets for growth and profitability are met.
6. Develop and maintain direct relationships with clients and producers.
7. Engage regularly with internal teams (e.g., Case Management, Group Admin), agents, brokers, consultants, and policyholders.

Qualifications

• Education: Post-secondary education
• Work Experience: Minimum of two years in Group Underwriting
• Computer Skills: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
• Language Skills: Bilingualism in French and English is an asset
• Other Skills: Teamwork, strong communication (written and verbal), self-motivation, accountability, judgment, decision-making, analytical skills, attention to detail, time management, and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
