Job summary

Fuze HR Solutions is seeking an experienced Group Benefits Manager to lead benefits administration for small-group clients in Canada. This hands-on leadership role combines client relationship management, system configuration, testing, data validation, and team leadership to build an efficient benefits function.

Responsibilities include onboarding new clients, configuring systems, resolving complex issues, and collaborating with carriers, technology teams, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in group benefits administration.
  • Strong knowledge of Extended Health Care (EHC), Life and AD&D, Disability, Critical Illness.
  • Experience with Health Spending Accounts (HSA) and Personal Spending Accounts (PSA).
  • Experience interpreting plan documents, contracts, carrier agreements, and administrative policies.

  • Oversee day-to-day benefits administration and ensure accurate, timely service delivery.
  • Manage client relationships and act as a trusted advisor to plan sponsors.
  • Lead client onboarding, including requirements gathering, system configuration, testing, data validation, implementation, and post-launch support.
  • Become the internal expert on the benefits administration platform, including configuration, troubleshooting, and system capabilities.
  • Investigate and resolve complex client, system, and operational issues.
  • Work closely with clients, insurance carriers, technology teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage team workload, priorities, deadlines, and service levels.
  • Develop and document processes, workflows, controls, and best practices.
  • Monitor service performance and prepare reports, dashboards, and scorecards.
  • Support recruiting, training, coaching, and development of the benefits administration team.
  • Participate in sales activities, including system demonstrations and RFP responses.
  • Interpret contracts, plan documents, carrier agreements, and administrative policies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and the overall client experience.

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in group benefits administration, preferably with a TPA serving small groups or within an insurance company.
  • Strong knowledge of:

  • Personal Spending Accounts (PSA)
  • Knowledge of insured and self-insured benefit plans, premium calculations, rate development, and reserve management.
  • Experience interpreting plan documents, contracts, carrier agreements, and administrative policies.
  • Strong experience managing client relationships and working directly with plan sponsors.
  • Experience with benefits onboarding, implementation, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with benefits administration and online enrollment platforms.
  • Previous leadership, coaching, or team management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to build processes and improve operational efficiency.
