Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a Group Benefits Consultant to join a growing Group Benefits & Retirement practice and take ownership of an established portfolio of clients.

This is a relationship-focused, retention, and internal growth role centered on delivering exceptional client service, managing renewals, resolving issues, and strengthening long-term client relationships. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, carriers, and internal teams while identifying opportunities for referrals and relationship expansion.

This role is ideal for a service-oriented Group Benefits professional who enjoys building trusted client relationships and is looking to grow into a broader client leadership and advisory position.

What will you be doing?
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for an established portfolio of Group Benefits and Retirement clients.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with HR leaders, plan administrators, business owners, and key decision-makers.
  • Manage client servicing, including inquiries, plan changes, reporting, escalations, and follow-ups.
  • Coordinate and lead annual renewal processes, including pricing analysis, negotiation support, recommendations, and presentations.
  • Present renewal results and recommendations clearly and confidently to clients.
  • Partner with carriers and internal teams to resolve issues and deliver strong client outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve client retention, satisfaction, and relationship growth.
  • Generate referrals and identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, client documentation, renewal timelines, and service workflows.
  • Collaborate with sales and internal teams to ensure a seamless client experience.
  • Take on increasing responsibility for client strategy, renewals, and account leadership over time.
Must haves:
  • 4+ years of experience in Group Benefits, Group Retirement, Employee Benefits, Insurance, or a related client-service environment.
  • Strong experience managing client relationships, renewals, and carrier interactions.
  • Solid understanding of employee benefits, plan servicing, renewals, and account management.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with senior client stakeholders.
  • Experience with or willingness to lead client-facing renewal presentations.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, judgment, and follow-through.
  • A strong service mindset with the ability to build trusted, long-term relationships.
  • Comfortable working in a high-touch, relationship-driven environment.
  • Experience with CRM systems and maintaining accurate client documentation.
  • Group Retirement / Group RRSP experience is an asset.
  • Relevant industry licensing is an asset but not required.
