Qualifications

  • Minimum five years’ experience in the group benefits field.
  • Post-secondary education, commerce/sales & marketing a plus
  • Experience in lead generation, stages of sales, closing and procuring new business in B2B settings
  • Knowledge of benefit products, pricing, and underwriting.
  • Active LLQP license in British Columbia or willingness to obtain within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Completed university degree.
  • GBA and/or CEBS designation, or willingness to pursue is an asset.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Self-directed and results-focused.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical and methodical problem-solving approach.
  • Professional, reliable, and discreet.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new group benefits opportunities.
  • Generate leads through referrals, professional contacts, and marketing initiatives.
  • Execute sales plans aligned with defined acquisition objectives.
  • Act as the primary advisor for assigned clients after onboarding.
  • Lead renewal discussions in partnership with internal service teams.
  • Present renewal analysis and recommendations.
  • Maintain working relationships with client stakeholders.
  • Identify changes in client requirements and recommend adjustments as appropriate.
  • Meet new business targets.
  • Support retention and growth of existing accounts.
  • Contribute to revenue growth through additional services where appropriate.
  • Review plan structures, including coverage design, pricing approach, and financial components.
  • Assess plan suitability using benchmarking and industry information.
  • Review benefit spend and identify opportunities for cost management.
  • Develop solutions aligned with client needs and organizational objectives.
  • Prepare and present clear, professional proposals.
  • Work with internal teams to support onboarding, implementation, and ongoing service.
  • Contribute to retention and account growth initiatives.
  • Maintain awareness of market developments, insurer offerings, and underwriting practices.

Group Benefits Advisor (New Business Sales and Account Management)

Our client is a reputable, boutique financial services firm, currently looking to add a relationship-focused, results-driven Group Benefits Advisor to their team. The Advisor will play a key role in developing new business through professional networks, referrals, and marketing activities, and maintaining working relationships with clients and supplier partners.

The role is primarily focused on acquiring new business. Following acquisition, the Advisor continues to manage the client relationship, acting as the lead contact through renewal cycles and longer-term program updates, in coordination with service and account management teams.

Work Arrangement

Expected Earnings (Base + Commission)

$75,000 - $120,000+, commensurate with experience and skillset

Responsibilities
New Business Development and Account Management
