Memorial University of Newfoundland's MUN Botanical Garden is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker (Band Level 3) on a contractual basis through December 23, 2026. You will maintain environmentally sensitive grounds, repair trails and boardwalks, and help install displays for the Merry and Bright Light Festival.

This competition may be used to fill identical positions in this unit within three (3) months of the closing date

DUTIES

The Grounds Maintenance Worker will be responsible for performing maintenance work in an environmentally sensitive fashion on the physical plant of the Memorial University Botanical Garden. Duties include the repair and resurfacing of trails and boardwalks; construction and installation of displays for the Merry and Bright Light Festival; and performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (up to 3 years) in carpentry work and basic grounds maintenance work; graduation from high school is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. The successful applicant must be able to operate small machinery such as chainsaws and power tools. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador is required. Experience in seasonal light display installation will be considered an asset.

SALARY

$47,057 - $55,196 per annum (CUPE Local 1615)
