Qualifications

  • Must meet Air Canada's medical requirements and pass screenings.
  • Able to obtain necessary work permits and security clearances.

Responsibilities

Shift Premium: Night - $2.50 for each hour worked between 11 PM and 7 AM

Air Canada is currently looking for a dynamic individual to fill a permanent full-time Equipment Mechanic position.

The Ground Support Equipment Maintenance Specialist must:

  • Ensure preventive maintenance and safe repairs for various types of equipment used in ground operations at airports, in accordance with applicable regulations and codes.
  • Good knowledge of powertrains and diesel or gasoline engines. Practical knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems, metal product manufacturing, and welding is an asset.
  • Be able to understand various troubleshooting schematics and be proficient in computer science and diagnostic tools.
  • Have team spirit and written and oral communication skills; be customer-oriented and able to work in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of experience in the trade.
  • Successfully pass the pre-employment qualification examination.
  • High school diploma.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to support the overall success of the team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Employees holding this safety-critical position must meet Air Canada's medical requirements to be eligible. Candidates will be subject to a medical evaluation, including drug and alcohol screening, and must not be under the influence of intoxicants.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all applicable transport security clearances and other additional accreditations. Please refer to the Transport Canada website for more details.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the country concerned at the time a job offer is presented and are responsible for obtaining work permits, visas, or other necessary authorizations. Proof of eligibility must be provided before the start date.
Assets
  • Interprovincial qualification (Red Seal)
  • Certificates or licenses related to trades, such as: advanced fuel injection and diesel engine tune-up, air conditioning and refrigeration, and automotive inspection.
  • Experience in the maintenance of mobile utility sets (generators), air conditioners (up to 110 tons), pneumatic sets (compressors up to 250 cu ft/min), but experience in agricultural or heavy equipment maintenance will also be considered.
Language Requirements

Equal qualifications being equal, the position will be awarded to a bilingual candidate (French and English).
