Air Canada is currently looking for a dynamic individual to fill a permanent full-time Ground Equipment Mechanic position.
The Ground Equipment Maintenance Specialist must:
- Ensure the safe preventive maintenance and repairs of various types of equipment used in ground operations at airports, in accordance with applicable regulations and codes.
- Good knowledge of powertrains and diesel or gasoline engines. Practical knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems, metal product fabrication, and welding, an asset.
- Must be able to understand various troubleshooting schematics and be proficient in computers and diagnostic tools.
- Must be a team player with written and oral communication skills; customer-oriented and able to work in a demanding environment.

Qualifications
- Holding a valid provincial endorsement or license as an automotive service technician, heavy-duty machinery mechanic, or truck and coach service technician, as recognized by the competent provincial authority
- At least one (1) year of experience in the trade.
- Pass the pre-employment qualification test.
- High school diploma.
- Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to support the overall success of the team in a fast-paced environment.
- Employees holding this safety-critical position must meet Air Canada's medical requirements to be eligible. Candidates will be subject to a medical evaluation, including a drug and alcohol screening test, and must not be under the influence of intoxicants.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all transport security clearances and other applicable additional accreditations. Please refer to the Transport Canada website for more details.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the country concerned at the time a job offer is presented and are responsible for obtaining work permits, visas, or other necessary authorizations. Proof of eligibility must be provided before the start date.
Assets
- Interprovincial Qualification (Red Seal)
- Trade-related certificates or licenses, such as: advanced fuel injection and diesel engine tuning, air conditioning and refrigeration, and automotive inspection.
- Experience in the maintenance of mobile ground power units (generators), air conditioners (up to 110 tons), pneumatic units (compressors up to 250 cu ft/min), but experience in agricultural or heavy equipment maintenance will also be considered.
