Grocery Purchaser

The Grocery Purchaser is responsible for placing orders with our suppliers to ensure adequate stock levels for customers. Although the Grocery Purchaser and the Grocery Manager work as a team, decisions about the operation of the department ultimately lie with the Grocery Manager. As part of one of our largest and most diverse departments, our Grocery Team Members are passionate about local, organic, and sustainable food. You enjoy helping others choose products that work best for their health and lifestyle, and you are eager to learn and try new products, so you are confident in the information you are sharing! This role also keeps our shelves stocked and looking amazing through building creative displays.

PERKS:

  • Competitive wage with a starting range of $19.50 - 22.50/hour
  • Flexible benefits
  • Up to 25% store discount
  • Education allowance
  • Free swag (products, food, clothing + more)
  • Share in some laughs, air high-fives, and fun each day

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Previous experience in purchasing is an asset but not required
  • Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service is essential
  • A passion for local, organic, and sustainable food and natural supplements
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and desire to contribute to people’s health and well-being
  • Ability to work in an energetic, fast-paced environment
  • Enjoy having fun!

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Greet customers warmly as they enter the department – we like building connections with our new and regular customers and sharing a laugh along the way.
  • Assist customers with questions they may have about products we carry and give suggestions based on their needs (don’t worry, we will train you on this!).
  • Create purchase orders, order schedules, customer special orders, and item movement reports.
  • Know where everything is located in the store! This allows you to identify trendy items that sell well—we will need to order more of these!
  • Become an expert on our ordering system and anticipate ordering needs for sales and promotions.
  • Understand and follow buy-in dates.
  • Handle problems with ease for issues like supplier out of stocks, errors in shipping, or incorrect pricing.
  • Work with your team to stock shelves throughout the day so products are easily accessible for customers.
  • Use your creativity and eye for detail to make attractive and organized displays.
  • Learn about new and featured products that are on sale through Nature’s Fare’s flyers and magazines.
  • In other words, you will help others, share your knowledge on our amazing products, be safe, be a great team player, and have fun!

Put your passion into work that matters with a growing, BC-based company committed to being a better company for our customers, our employees, and the planet. We’ll surround you with a great team and a supportive learning environment where you can grow and thrive.

Nature's Fare Markets is an equal opportunity employer and as such we strive to foster a workplace where individual differences are recognized, appreciated, and respected.
