DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Develop engaging design content for various platforms including emails newsletters public reports and fundraising materials.
  • Ability to transform design concepts on a deadline and shared to key stakeholders.
  • Adapt to a dynamic work environment where creative assets may need to be reworked at short notice.
  • Interpret and explain the creative assets and direction taken to create assets to key stakeholders.
  • Create digital assets for social media and digital marketing purposes.
  • Turn strategic ideas into creative marketing and fundraising solutions.
  • Create timelines and monitor design projects.
  • Support all aspects of the production flow process including procuring quotes from internal and external partners and other service providers approvals quality control on printing delivery and inventory control.
  • Coordinate copy artwork and create designs on multiple projects and campaigns.
  • Support production and design of print and digital materials and promotional materials.
  • Collaborate with internal departments for efficient project management.
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner utilizing pre-defined timelines agreed upon by the team
  • Required to abide by all Health & Safety protocols including completing a report for all incidents that occur including near misses in a timely manner.
  • All other duties as may be assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Post-secondary education in a related field such as art graphic design new media UX / UI design and others.
  • High proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator InDesign Photoshop).
  • Ability to create intuitive and high-quality designs that inspire action and evoke emotion.
  • Ability to conceptualize and take projects through to completion.
  • Experience in brand development and management is an asset.
  • Experience in print media print coordination and print production is not required but an asset.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word PowerPoint Teams).
  • Ability to synthesize information from various sources to create informed and accurate content.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills both written and verbal.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and in team player with a collaborative spirit
  • Creative mindset with the ability to generate new ideas and approaches to content creation.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects while always remaining deadline-driven.
  • Be approachable flexible and available.
  • Genuine interest in and commitment to The Mustard Seeds mission of eliminating homelessness and supporting vulnerable communities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This job takes place in an office environment primarily seated at a desktop computer with frequent meetings in Calgary and in locations across Alberta (occasional travel may be required).
  • Minimal physical effort is required to perform this role on a daily basis with moderate physical effort required for travel within Calgary.
  • This will be a hybrid work position in the Calgary downtown The Mustard Seed office.
  • Local travel on occasion may be required within Calgary and area through the surrounding community and to Red Deer Medicine Hat and Edmonton.
  • This position requires the use of a company vehicle. Candidate must have and maintain valid drivers licence and will need to consent to a drivers abstract request
  • As The Mustard Seed is a Christian ministry we require our employees sign an agreement indicating that they will respect and not detract from our Statement of Faith.
  • Employees are to be aware that many of our clients may experience difficulties or impairment at times which could result in them uttering threats discriminatory statements and other insults at your person. This may be in a raised voice or in seeing unpredictable behaviour up to and including the possibility of them becoming aggressive.
  • Training on how to respond is provided but this is to be considered typical working conditions. Many of our clients are unaware of the impact of these comments.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • An Employment Background Check is required for all positions at The Mustard Seed
  • As The Mustard Seed is a Christian ministry we require our employees to agree to respect and not detract from The Mustard Seeds Employment Values during their employment at The Mustard Seed.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
