Job summary

Granite Country Inc. is seeking a Granite Setter to work on-site at our Calgary location. You will prepare surfaces, mix and apply mortar, cut tiles, and install marble and granite while supervising helpers as needed.

The role requires 1–2 years of relevant tiling experience and a high school diploma or equivalent. This is a permanent full-time, on-site position with standard 30–40 hour weeks and on-site safety requirements.

Qualifications

• 1 year to less than 2 years experience in tiling or granite setting
• High school graduation certificate or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Prepare, measure and mark surfaces to be covered
• Mix, apply and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue or other adhesives using hand trowel
• Prepare rough plans and sketches
• Prepare tenders and quotations
• Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools
• Instruct apprentices
• Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout
• Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles
• Supervise other workers
• Build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires and brackets
• Cut, surface, polish and install marble and granite
• Estimate costs and materials
• Mix, lay and polish terra surfaces
