Job summary

The University of Waterloo is seeking a Graduate Advisor and Coordinator to provide academic advising, program coordination, and administrative support for the graduate programs in the School. This role serves as the primary contact for graduate students and supports the Program Manager, Associate Director, Graduate Studies, and the Director.

Responsibilities include managing applications, funding, awards, course scheduling, and alignment with university policies.

Qualifications

• Proven administrative experience advising students within an academic environment.
• Well-developed organizational, analytical, interpersonal, customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Advises graduate students on admissions, requirements, milestones, petitions, theses, and graduation.
• Coordinates PhD progress reporting, thesis proposal approvals, comprehensive exams, and defenses.
• Manages graduate applications, transcripts, funding, awards, and course scheduling.
• Collaborates with Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA) and central services to process milestones and records.
• Develops graduate course schedules.
