Position Overview Reporting to the Product Development Manager - Hubs, the Mechanical Engineer II will take ownership of the analysis and validation of design integrity and product performance across our hub bearing portfolio.
You will directly influence how products are validated, improved, and brought to market with strong emphasis failure analysis, innovation through continuous advancement. You’ll be expected to challenge existing designs, uncover root causes, and push engineering standards forward.
Key Responsibilities Failure Analysis & Continuous Improvement Lead root cause investigations on warranty returns and field failures Identify failure modes, design weaknesses, and systemic issues Use test data and real-world feedback to continuously evolve product performance Convert findings into design upgrades, material changes, and engineering standards Translate insights into actionable engineering improvements and next-gen product direction Develop validation criteria, test methods and design test equipment for existing and new products and components Create and manage 2D/3D CAD models and drawings (AutoCAD, Inventor, or equivalent) Apply GD&T and engineering best practices to ensure precision and consistency Partner with global manufacturers to translate designs into high-performing products Resolve technical challenges and drive quality improvements with suppliers Support manufacturer onboarding with a focus on engineering excellence and compliance Engineering Excellence & Team Impact Elevate engineering capability by improving design standards and processes Contribute to team development, knowledge sharing and growth Actively shape and improve overall engineering practices and performance culture Ideal Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering or applied science 6+ years of mechanical engineering experience Experience with dynamic equipment is preferred Experience with testing design and validation considered valuable Knowledge of materials and metallurgy considered valuable Experience with bearing systems considered an asset Proven ability to analyze failures and translate insights into design improvements CAD (2D & 3D – AutoCAD, Inventor or equivalent) GD&T (ASME Y14.5) Physical Demands And Working Conditions Position follows a hybrid work requirement, consisting of four (4) days onsite and one (1) day remote weekly. Primarily office-based with standard working hours; may require additional hours to meet project deadlines or address urgent matters. Ability to work in a dynamic environment, managing multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
