Job summary

St. Clement's School currently seeks a temporary, full-time Grade 1 teacher for East Chilliwack Elementary School, starting immediately through June 30, 2027, or until the teacher returns.

Qualifications

• Extensive academic training and professional preparation in teaching.
• Knowledge of Ministry of Education philosophy, practices, and assessment procedures.
• Ability to plan and teach all subjects for Grade 1 and address diverse student needs.
• Experience with evidence-based literacy and numeracy instruction for early years.
• Familiarity with RTI concepts to support struggling learners.
• Knowledge of brain-based strategies for self-regulation and social-emotional learning.
• Ability to integrate technology in daily lessons.
• Commitment to Indigenizing curriculum using First Peoples Principles of Learning.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach all required Grade 1 subjects.
• Address academic and social/emotional learning needs of a diverse class.
• Use current instructional practices to implement literacy and numeracy programs.
• Incorporate RTI approaches to support struggling learners.
• Apply brain-based strategies for self-regulation and SEL.
• Engage staff and families in a collaborative learning community.
