Job summary

Bay Ferries Limited is recruiting GP Deckhands for casual, unlicensed positions on MV Fundy Rose, a year-round ferry service across the Bay of Fundy between Digby, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick.

This is a casual role with potential to lead to full-time and includes training incentives, work-life balance, competitive wages (per collective agreement), and a pension plan as per the collective agreement.

Qualifications

• CDN# is required to work on Canadian ships.
• Seafarers Marine Medical is required per vessel standards.
• STCW 6.1, 6.2, 6.3 certifications are mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Perform deckhand duties on MV Fundy Rose as part of the crew.
• Maintain safety and security procedures during operations.
• Assist in routine shipboard tasks and line handling as directed.

Job description

Bay Ferries Limited is currently recruiting GP Deckhands for casual positions working on MV Fundy Rose, a year-round ferry service across the Bay of Fundy between Digby, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick.

This is a casual, unlicensed position and may lead to a full-time position.

Required certifications

• Valid Candidate Document Number (CDN#)
• Valid Seafarers Marine Medical
• STCW's 6.1, 6.2, 6.3.

Desired qualifications

• Bridge Watch Rating Certificate. (BWR)
• Experience in the passenger ship industry.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proven track record of safe operations.
• Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a just-cause safety culture.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
