Job summary

Zero Point Cryogenics Inc. is seeking a highly technical Installation Technician for on-site work in Edmonton with regular global travel. The role begins with a six-month hands-on training period with the Production team before transitioning to independent field installation work.

You will gain deep understanding of cryogenic systems, participate in assembly, testing, and service, and travel internationally to customers for installation, commissioning, and maintenance.

Qualifications

• Electrician trade certification or journeyperson would be asset.
• BSc in physics or Engineering degree preferred.
• Customer service experience in a technical role preferred.
• Experience with low temperature physics equipment or condensed matter experiments preferred.
• Experience sourcing technical materials for electrical, mechanical, instrumentation applications.
• Electrical/mechanical shop or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Excellent time-management and task-prioritization.
• Strong documentation skills for technical materials.
• Experience with multimeters and other testing equipment used in startup and commissioning.
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor and Google Workspace.
• Ability to plan daily and work independently within a team.
• PHYS 415 condensed matter physics course prioritized.
• Dilution refrigerator experience prioritized.

Responsibilities

• Support full lifecycle of Zero Point Cryogenics systems—from in-house assembly and testing through global installation, commissioning, and service.
• Build understanding of cryostat design, assembly, and testing for field troubleshooting and repair.
• Travel internationally to install, test, commission, and service systems at customer facilities.
• Train customers on safe and effective use of their refrigeration systems.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and warranty service throughout each system's lifecycle.
• Read and interpret manuals, drawings, and quality control specifications.
• Complete installation, service, and administrative documentation using Odoo, HubSpot, and Google Workspace.
