Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Compute Operations Specialist to join its global IT Operations team in Canada. The role focuses on delivering highly available, secure and scalable compute services across the Americas, driving operational excellence and continuous improvement of the enterprise compute environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT/CS/Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in a Compute Operations role with enterprise IT exposure.
• Deep knowledge of compute services and infrastructure.
• Experience in large/global enterprise IT environments and ITIL-aligned service management.
• Hands-on with server OS (Windows/Linux) and virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V).
• Scripting/automation skills (PowerShell, Bash) and storage/backup technologies.

Responsibilities

• Handle highly complex compute operations projects with wide impact.
• Identify opportunities to improve people, processes, and technology.
• Lead team in developing methods and analytical approaches.
• Guide peers to resolve significant problems and issues.
• Manage day-to-day activities to meet service levels and perform health maintenance.
• Coordinate upgrades, performance improvements and fault resolution.
• Oversee IMACDs and business continuity tests.
• Engage with service suppliers and manufacturers.
• Proactively address incidents before they affect service levels.
• Contribute to problem management and change approvals.
• Support audit/compliance activities and documentation.
