Job summary

Mecka AI is seeking a Commercial and International Counsel to draft and negotiate data licensing and vendor agreements, ensuring data ownership and cross-border risk pricing. You will build templates and playbooks for commercial teams and lead the legal workstream for new markets alongside operations.

You will coordinate with outside counsel and finance to address tax exposure and licensing requirements as we deploy globally, ensuring compliant, scalable deals.

Qualifications

• Law degree and admission to practice in at least one jurisdiction.
• 5 to 8+ years of commercial and transactional practice, including in-house time at a high-growth company.
• Proven record of drafting and negotiating customer, data licensing, technology, vendor, and partnership agreements.

Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate data licensing agreements with AI customers, capture partnership agreements, BPO and vendor agreements, and compute, cloud, and software contracts, with a firm data ownership stance.
• Build standard agreements and negotiation playbooks with approved fallback positions and an approval matrix for routine deals.
• Lead the legal workstream for each new country, including entity formation, contractor agreements, tax exposure with finance, and required licenses.
• Advise on import/export of capture devices, product certification, warranties, and related contracts in each market.
• Select, brief, and manage local law firms, set scopes and deadlines, and translate their work into decisions for operating teams.
