Job summary

Aplin is seeking a GIS System Analyst (Contract) to support enterprise geospatial applications in a fast-moving IT environment. This hybrid role blends hands-on application support with continuous improvement, ensuring systems remain reliable, available, and well documented.

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years in application support or development, strong C# and Java skills, and experience with Oracle or SQL Server, ETL (FME), and SDLC with Agile/ITIL practices.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar (2 year or 4 year program).
• 4+ years of relevant experience in application support or development (intermediate level preferred).
• Solid SDLC understanding with exposure to Agile, ITIL, and change management practices.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and manage changes to geospatial applications to ensure reliability and availability.
• Troubleshoot production issues quickly and accurately, escalating when needed and driving fixes through to resolution.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement solutions to reduce repeat incidents.
• Support transition to operations activities (readiness reviews, checklists, handoffs).
• Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to deliver high quality, maintainable solutions.
• Contribute to estimates, requirements, application design reviews, and programming logic quality checks.
• Build and maintain technical documentation and knowledge sharing for cross training and continuity.
• Follow established standards, policies, SDLC practices, and change management processes.

• Database experience with Oracle and or Microsoft SQL Server
• ETL experience (for example FME)
• Solid understanding of SDLC plus exposure to Agile, ITIL, and change management practices
• Excellent communication, coordination, and independent working skills

Nice to have: Linux and Windows troubleshooting, CAD environment development (AutoCAD or MicroStation), spatial databases and geospatial concepts (Oracle Spatial and Graph or SQL Spatial), and Esri desktop or server administration.
