Job summary

The Wellington Long Term Care & Retirement Home is seeking a Program Therapist to plan, implement and evaluate therapeutic and recreational activities for residents. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to address physical, social, emotional, cognitive, spiritual and cultural needs.

Responsibilities include documentation, program planning, outings, community engagement and adapting programs to residents’ status. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary credential in recreation/therapy or related field from an Ontario institution.
• Equivalent credentials from another jurisdiction acceptable.
• Experience planning and evaluating recreation programs for seniors.
• Experience with GPA, PIECES and U FIRST is an asset.
• Must provide Vulnerable Sector Check and recent TB testing as required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and evaluate programs, outings and events for residents.
• Complete documentation including care plans, progress notes and assessments.
• Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team and community groups.
• Ensure accessibility of posters, notices and calendars for residents.
• Maintain equipment and ensure residents have access to assistive devices.
