Job summary

Generations Toronto, a not-for-profit long-term care campus in Don Mills, Toronto, Ontario, is recruiting a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to provide professional nursing care to residents in accordance with required medical care and professional nursing practice. You will work with the health care team to ensure resident needs are met.

In collaboration with the Registered Nurse, you will implement policies, liaise with physicians, and provide direction to Personal Support Workers.

Qualifications

• Geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing background.
• Activation, nursing and personnel administration experience.
• Knowledge of applicable Canadian health and nursing standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care to residents in accordance with required medical care and professional nursing practice.
• Direct Personal Support Workers on the unit.
• Liaise with physicians and other health care team members, including external health partners.
• Notify physician of significant changes in resident status when the RN is unavailable.
• Participate in shift reports to inform the team of resident status changes.
