Job summary

TBT Engineering in Ottawa, ON is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to work on diverse geotechnical projects under mentorship from Professional Engineers. You will apply soil and rock mechanics, foundation design, slope stability, and site investigation concepts toward professional licensure in a growth-oriented environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited Canadian university.
  • Field experience is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with codes, standards, regulations, and engineering software.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in geotechnical engineering design and analysis, including foundation design and slope stability analysis and interpret geotechnical site investigations, including drilling of boreholes and laboratory testing of soils and rocks.
  • Support technical and project management activities through design development, construction review, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prepare, verify, and finalize technical reports, calculations, and other project deliverables with attention to accuracy and quality standards.
  • Conduct fieldwork, including research, site reviews, inspections, testing, and technical investigations to support project design and delivery.
  • Contribute to proposal preparation and actively participate in engagement with clients, regulatory agencies, the public, and suppliers.
  • Collaborate closely with Professional Engineers to apply engineering principles, develop practical solutions, and advance toward professional licensure.

Position Description

Contribute to a variety of Geotechnical Engineering projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams under the mentorship of experienced Professional Engineers. Apply and expand your technical knowledge in soil and rock mechanics, foundation design, slope stability, and site investigation as you develop toward professional licensure in a dynamic and growth-oriented environment.

Position Responsibilities
  • Participate in geotechnical engineering design and analysis, including foundation design and slope stability analysis and interpret geotechnical site investigations, including drilling of boreholes and laboratory testing of soils and rocks.
  • Support technical and project management activities through design development, construction review, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills in Geotechnical Engineering supported by a degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited Canadian university or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Field experience is considered an asset, along with a solid understanding of relevant codes, standards, regulations, and engineering software.

This position is classified as full time. Rate of pay will be commensurate with related experience and qualifications ($62,400.00 per year +).
