Job summary

Wood West & Associates Inc. is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer, Hydro to support major dam, reservoir, and hydropower projects across Canada. The role offers collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and industry specialists.

You will lead design analyses, participate in safety reviews, mentor junior staff, and contribute to high-quality reports while traveling for project work across Canada.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geological, Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline; a Master’s or PhD is an asset.
  • 7+ years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Experience with dam engineering, dam safety, geotechnical design, and/or dam construction.
  • Knowledge of Canadian dam safety guidelines and industry standards.
  • Experience with geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Leapfrog, or Rocscience is an asset.
  • Strong project management, technical analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Travel occasionally within Canada for project and site work.
