Our Ideal Candidate

As a Geomatics Technologist, you will support projects across industries like civil construction, oil and gas, mining, and municipal construction. Your responsibilities include quality control on field returns, survey calculations, project documentation, and supporting UAV and 3D laser scan data processing. Your role is vital in ensuring high-quality survey plans.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities include:

  • Processing and interpreting survey data
  • Reviewing survey field returns for completeness and correctness
  • Performing calculations such as traverses and plan closures based on legal survey plans
  • Drafting survey plans using standard practices and data from the field and office
  • Performing network adjustments for control networks
  • Generating topographic surfaces and volume calculations
  • Survey calculations for engineering layouts based on IFC drawings
  • Supporting field crews with engineering layout surveys
  • Creating alignments and corridors as per IFC drawings
  • Preparing stakeout, pre-pour, and as-built reports
  • Processing remotely sensed data (e.g., laser scanning, photogrammetry, lidar)
  • Staying updated on new technologies
  • Maintaining strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ensuring quality and accuracy of plans before delivery
What You’ll Bring to the Team
  • Post-secondary education in Survey/Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field; or CAD/GIS certification
  • At least 3 years of relevant construction survey experience
  • Proficiency in Trimble Business Centre (TBC)
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D and/or AutoCAD
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Understanding of surveying principles, plan requirements, and construction deliverables
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
