Job summary

Vale Base Metals in Sudbury, Ontario, is seeking a Geology Co-op Student to support geological services and mining operations. The role involves exposure to underground work, grade control, mapping, and mineability assessments, with QA/QC logging and potential drill layout exposure.

Candidates must be enrolled in geology or geological engineering and be physically capable of handling drill core daily. The program runs 4 to 16 months with start dates in January 2027 or May 2027.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a Geology or Geological Engineering undergraduate program.
• Must be physically capable of handling 300’-500’ of diamond drill core per day.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 products; Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Attend and participate in daily safety line up meetings, and monthly safety meetings and required safety training.
• Communicate changes in ore interpretation to diamond drill geologists.
• Identify, analyze and recommend opportunities for safety, productivity and cost improvements.
• Current schedule is 5 days per week Monday to Friday 6:30am-3:00pm (excluding recognized holidays).
