Job summary

Okane is seeking an Intermediate Consultant (Geochemist) to advance integrated mine closure planning across North America. The role involves collaborating with geoscience, geotechnical, mine planning and hydrology teams to deliver practical, data-driven closure solutions.

The candidate should have 5+ years in consulting or mining geochemistry, strong modelling and communication skills, and a commitment to environmental sustainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in geochemistry, earth sciences, environmental science, engineering geology or soil science.
• Registered professional (P.Geo., P.Eng., or equivalent) in a Canadian jurisdiction, or eligible for registration.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop optimized, feasible mine closure plans.
• Prepare technical documentation and reports for geochemistry projects.
• Evaluate geochemical risks and develop mine waste management and reclamation solutions.
• Develop conceptual site models to predict waste geochemical performance and water quality.
• Interpret test results and integrate findings into predictive geochemical models.
• Support development and calibration of geochemical and reactive transport models.
• Perform data analysis and visualization for geochemical assessments and decision-making.
• Contribute to proposals, cost estimates, and business development efforts.
