Job summary

Verathon in Burnaby, BC seeks a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Visualization R&D team. You will direct systems software and applications for next‑gen medical devices, champion Gen AI integration, and set a clear vision to leverage AI for competitive advantage.

You will mentor 6–10 engineers, drive agile processes, and collaborate with Research/Hardware to balance delivery with growth, ensuring high-quality software and timely product launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent; Master’s Degree preferred.
• 8+ years of software development experience, with 4+ years on embedded RTOS systems.
• 2+ years of management experience leading software projects and teams.
• Experience with embedded platforms (MSP430, ARM Cortex A/M, x86/64, STM32).
• Skills in developing applications across bare metal, RTOS, and embedded Linux.
• Familiarity with ISO 13485, ISO 14971 and IEC 62304 in medical device development.
• Proven software engineering best practices including estimation, design, testing, config mgmt, change control.

Responsibilities

• Lead software development team of 6–10 individuals for medical imaging devices.
• Drive agile processes and external development resources.
• Improve time to market through process optimization and lifecycle management.
• Mentor engineers using situational leadership to grow skills.
• Provide technical project management across the software lifecycle.
• Coordinate with Research and Hardware teams on architecture decisions.
