Asana, a leader in human + AI collaboration, seeks a Senior Software Engineer in Vancouver to help architect and deliver AI-driven systems. You will influence design across runtime, evaluation, and customer-facing builders while mentoring engineers and shaping technical direction.

The role emphasizes collaboration with product and data science teams. The position offers an office-centric hybrid schedule with in-office days and optional work-from-home days depending on team and work type.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and maintaining production distributed systems, microservices, or complex full-stack architectures.
• Proven track record as Tech Lead or AoR owner driving multi-contributor projects.
• Experience with AI tools, LLMs, evaluation pipelines, or real-time streaming infrastructure.
• Ability to author comprehensive technical design docs and evaluate trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical design, architecture, and end-to-end delivery of medium-to-large AI projects.
• Design robust, extensible systems for agentic execution, prompt-driven automation, and model orchestration.
• Weigh latency, cost, determinism, and maintainability when making architectural decisions.
• Mentor engineers and set high engineering standards across teams.
• Collaborate with Product, Data Scientists, and Engineers to align technical direction with product strategy.
