Job summary

Photonic Inc. is seeking a VP of Software Engineering in British Columbia (Hybrid). You will define and lead the software strategy spanning core platforms, simulations, compilers, AI, and development infrastructure to accelerate quantum computing systems.

You will build high-performing teams, improve execution, and apply AI-driven approaches to boost productivity. Collaborations with hardware, product, and research leaders are essential to scale software capabilities.

Qualifications

Proven success leading AI-enabled engineering transformation with measurable productivity gains.
Experience building and scaling software organizations responsible for complex products or platforms.
Strong technical credibility across modern software architecture and lifecycle management.
Demonstrated leadership balancing innovation, execution, accountability, and technical excellence.
Experience leading software organizations supporting complex hardware or deep-tech platforms.
Deep understanding of software-hardware co-development and its impact on system performance.
Strong product and operational mindset linking software investments to measurable outcomes.
Excellent leadership, communication, and change-management skills.

Responsibilities

Build, lead, and scale a world-class software organization across software systems, simulation, compilers, AI, and infrastructure.
Lead the adoption of AI-assisted and agentic development with strategy, operating model, tooling, governance, and changes.
Build platforms, workflows, and enablement practices to scale AI adoption while improving quality, security, and developer effectiveness.
Identify and prioritize opportunities to improve engineering productivity, reduce latency, shorten learning cycles, and accelerate progress.
Define and execute the software strategy to support engineering, product, and commercialization objectives.
Partner with Product and Program Management to establish end-to-end development processes from requirements to delivery.
Collaborate with hardware, systems, and research teams to enable software-hardware co-development and scalability.
Build and mentor a strong software leadership team with governance, tooling, automation, and risk management.
