Jump Recruitment is seeking a dynamic, highly skilled, and innovative General Manager (Full Time) for our client, Ocean Choice International, based in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Ocean Choice International (Ocean Choice) is one of Atlantic Canada's most diversified seafood companies, sustainably producing and marketing a full range of shellfish, groundfish, and pelagic species. The company values its people, families, and communities.

Position Overview

Ocean Choice is currently seeking a General Manager to join their Fleet Operations Group in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Reporting to the CEO and President, the General Manager oversees the safe and environmentally responsible management of a shrimp or groundfish fishing vessel.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement vessel management strategies, including turnaround schedules, fishing plans, and preventative maintenance.
2. Coordinate compliance with federal and provincial safety legislation and corporate objectives.
3. Prepare and review monthly vessel reports.
4. Lead projects promoting continuous improvement in vessel operations.
5. Collaborate with vessel crew, maintenance teams, and support staff.

Qualifications

• Training in a marine discipline or a relevant degree in business, fisheries management, or related fields.
• Minimum of five years' experience managing vessels, preferably in the fishing industry.
• Strong knowledge of maritime regulations and safety standards.
• Proficiency with fleet management systems.
• Ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
