Hunust’ot’en Investment Corporation (HIC) was created to enable Nee Tahi Buhn Indian Band (NTBB) to actively participate in economic opportunities in the Bulkley-Nechako region, including forestry, oil and gas, mining, and hydroelectric projects. From its origins managing forest tenures to its current ventures in residential construction, HIC has built a strong reputation for integrity, safety, and quality service.

Overview of the Role
We are seeking a full-time General Manager to lead the operations and growth of Hunust’ot’en Investment Corporation. Reporting to the Vice President and working closely with the President, Board of Directors, and Chief and Council of NTBB, the General Manager will oversee daily operations, ensure alignment with strategic goals, and support the continued success of HIC’s business ventures.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader who thrives on operational excellence, community collaboration, and driving results.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, occasional weekends or evenings as required.

Hours: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (40 hours per week)

Location: Onsite at 47805 Olson Road Burns Lake

Monthly Travel Stipend provided, based on length of travel to the office.

Travel Requirements: Local travel required. Must have access to a reliable vehicle.

You are a strategic, hands-on leader who can balance day-to-day operations with long-term planning. You are grounded in financial oversight, business development, and staff management, with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments. You are also culturally aware, collaborative, and committed to Indigenous economic development.

What You Will Do

  • Execute strategic plans and ensure alignment with HIC and NTBB priorities
  • Oversee business operations, contracts, projects, and vendor relationships
  • Provide leadership in resource planning, staff supervision, and performance management
  • Manage budgets, financial analysis, and risk mitigation activities
  • Represent HIC in interactions with community members, government, industry partners, and stakeholders
  • Foster operational efficiency, strong partnerships, and business development opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and policy standards
  • Promote HIC’s services and brand through outreach, communication, and professionalism.

What you Bring
Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in business operations or corporate planning
  • 3+ years in a senior leadership role with staff supervision responsibilities
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and reporting
  • Experience working with or for Indigenous communities or organizations
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and project management skills
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and ability to obtain business-use vehicle insurance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or relevant advanced degree
  • CPA, CFA, or other professional designation
  • Experience in forestry, construction, or resource-related industries
  • Familiarity with government funding, proposal writing, or economic development grants
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks impacting Indigenous economic development

What We Offer

  • Salary $78,000-$98,000 per annum based on experience.
  • Three weeks annual vacation (6% accrual)
  • Every second Friday afternoon off with pay.
  • An additional paid time off during the holiday season
  • A healthy extended benefits plan, including ten sick days and five cultural days per year
