Job summary

The Timmins Native Friendship Centre (TNFC) is hiring a Finance Officer to oversee financial operations, budgets, audits, and reporting in Timmins, Ontario. The role requires strong accounting skills, accuracy, and leadership of the finance team.

Starting salary range begins at 17.60 to 21.00 CAD per hour, with benefits. Typical workweek is 35 hours, with occasional evenings or weekends to meet deadlines. Three references are required at interview.

Qualifications

  • Oversee financial operations, accounting, payroll, and financial reporting
  • Lead development, monitoring, and analysis of annual budgets and forecasts
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
  • Monitor cash flow and ensure effective financial planning and controls
  • Manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial records
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivables processes, including reconciliation
  • Lead year-end processes, including audit preparation and coordination with external auditors
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manage all government remittances
  • Oversee the administration of employee benefits and related financial programs
  • Supervise and support finance and payroll staff, providing guidance and oversight
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Maintain financial policies, internal controls, and reporting systems

Job description

The TNFC provides services tosupport the cultural heritage of Indigenous peoples through intervention,prevention, direct services, advocacy, and support in the areas of health,education, employment and training, culture, recreation, and social services.

Job Duties:

The successful candidatewill be expected to work 35 hours per work week, on occasion, evenings orweekends. The working hours will meet the demands of the position, the needs, andthe objectives and are at the sole discretion of TNFC.

Starting salary range begins at$ 17.60 to $21.00 plus benefits,
