Job summary

Argus-Machine-Co-Ltd is seeking a general shop floor and yard labourer to support production and material handling tasks at our Edmonton facility. The role involves assisting with handling, plating, storage, and preparation of raw materials and finished products, and requires safe work practices.

Responsibilities include operating cranes or forklifts, maintaining clean work areas, inventory checks, and accurate documentation of work performed while following Lean principles and QA requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is an asset.
• Machine shop experience is an asset.
• A forklift ticket is an asset.
• Ability to use measuring equipment.
• General knowledge of products and services in relation to the oil and gas industry.
• General understanding of safe work practices, QA requirements, and Lean Manufacturing principles.

• Provide general shop and yard labour as required.
• Clean and maintain the work area and equipment used daily.
• Use overhead cranes and/or forklift to load and offload items from racks daily.
• Expedite Argus Product Inventory Bins to corresponding machines.
• Check and maintain existing and incoming stock levels of raw material and final product.
• Participate in inventory control activities.
• Safely maneuver raw material/ finished product within the manufacturing plant.
• Handle materials and equipment with care to ensure raw materials are not damaged while being transported.
• Report any concerns to the Plant Supervisor.
• Interpret production order information, including part descriptions, material grade, documents and drawings.
• Complete documentation for work carried out. Route the material/ product and related documentation to the appropriate location once completed.
• Record time and switch codes on internal computer system (Blue Terminal), scan router operations, enter product quantity and consume materials.
• Use measuring tools as required.
• Appropriate handling of hazardous chemicals as required by WHIMIS standards.
• Other duties as requested by the Supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Shop floor environment, extended standing and working with products.
• Working wearing personal protective equipment 100% of work time.
• Lifting regularly up to 50lbs without mechanical assistance.
