Job summary

Argus is seeking a shop floor labourer to support general shop and yard tasks on the Edmonton site. Responsibilities include handling, plating, storage, cleanup, and prep of raw materials and finished products, with routine use of cranes and forklift equipment.

The role focuses on accurate stock checks, material routing, and documentation through the internal Blue Terminal system. A background in machine shop work and forklift operation are assets, with emphasis on safety and Lean manufacturing

Qualifications

• High school diploma is an asset.
• Machine shop experience is an asset.
• Forklift ticket is an asset.
• Ability to use measuring equipment.
• General knowledge of products and services in relation to oil and gas industry.
• Understanding of safe work practices and Lean Manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide general shop and yard labour as required.
• Clean and maintain the work area and equipment used daily.
• Use overhead cranes and/or forklift to load and offload items from racks daily.
• Expedite Argus Product Inventory Bins to corresponding machines.
• Check and maintain existing and incoming stock levels of raw material and final product.
• Participate in inventory control activities.
• Safely maneuver raw material/ finished product within the manufacturing plant.
• Interpret production order information, including part descriptions, material grade, documents and drawings.
• Complete documentation for work carried out and route material/product accordingly.
• Record time and switch codes on internal computer system (Blue Terminal).
• Use measuring tools as required.
• Appropriate handling of hazardous chemicals as required by WHIMIS standards.
• Other duties as requested by the Supervisor.

Job description

Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, the employee performs general shop floor work. They also assist with handling, plating, storage, clean up and preparation of raw materials and finished products.

Responsibilities

• Provide general shop and yard labour as required.
• Clean and maintain the work area and equipment used daily.
• Use overhead cranes and/or forklift to load and offload items from racks daily.
• Expedite Argus Product Inventory Bins to corresponding machines.
• Check and maintain existing and incoming stock levels of raw material and final product.
• Participate in inventory control activities.
• Safely maneuver raw material/ finished product within the manufacturing plant. Handle materials and equipment with care to ensure raw materials are not damaged while being transported. Report any concerns to the Plant Supervisor.
• Interpret production order information, including part descriptions, material grade, documents and drawings.
• Complete documentation for work carried out. Route the material/ product and related documentation to the appropriate location once completed.
• Record time and switch codes on internal computer system (Blue Terminal), scan router operations, enter product quantity and consume materials.
• Use measuring tools as required.
• Appropriate handling of hazardous chemicals as required by WHIMIS standards.
• Other duties as requested by the Supervisor.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma is an asset.
• Machine shop experience is an asset.
• A forklift ticket is an asset.
• Ability to use measuring equipment.
• General knowledge of products and services in relation to the oil and gas industry.
• General understanding of safe work practices, Quality Assurance requirements, and Continuous Improvement (Lean Manufacturing) principles.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Shop floor environment, extended standing and working with products.
• Working wearing personal protective equipment 100% of work time.
• Lifting regularly up to 50lbs without mechanical assistance.
