Job summary

Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT), a Cleveland-Cliffs subsidiary, has an immediate opening for a General Laborer in Windsor, ON. The role involves processing scrap metals, loading/unloading, sorting materials, and operating mobile equipment in a safety-conscious environment.

Responsibilities include identifying material grades, performing tool-based tasks, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting mechanics as needed. Union position with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Experience operating mobile equipment preferred.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to follow oral and written communication.
• Ability to climb ladders or steps to reach objects.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• Work cooperatively with other employees and the public.
• Must be able to work around dust, dirt, vibrations and weather.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to safety standards and PPE, remove hazards and maintain cleanliness.
• Load and unload materials from storage, production areas, docks, or vehicles.
• Sort recycled materials to separate high-grade metals and remove non-conforming metals.
• Operate and maintain forklifts, skid steers, streetsweeper, and water trucks.
• Perform tasks using tools such as hand tools, torch, bander, chop saw, sawzall, and wire snips.
• Identify scrap by grade and type, and note any undesirable elements.
• Remove fluids from incoming materials or vehicles as required.
• Perform plant equipment cleaning and general housekeeping.
• Assist mechanics in equipment maintenance.
• Interact with customers or drivers to direct or assist them.
• Perform other general laborer tasks as required.

Summary ofResponsibilities:

• Ensure adherence to safety standards including use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), remove hazards asidentified, andmaintaincleanliness of the site.

• Load and unload materials from storage,productionareas, docks, delivery vehicles,staging areas,or containers using mobile equipment or by hand.

• Sort a variety of recycled materials and metals to separate out high-grade metals andremovesany non-conforming metals.

• Operate&maintainmobile equipment including but not limited to forklifts, skid steers, streetsweeper, and/or water trucks.

• Perform tasks involving physical labor using tools, including but not limited to standard hand tools, torch, bander, chop saw, alligator shear, sawzall, and wire snips.

• Identifyscrapincludingthe grade and type of material and any undesirable elements within the material.

• Remove fluids from incoming materials or vehicles asrequired.

• Perform cleaning duties related to plant equipment and general housekeeping

• Assistsmechanics in the maintenance of equipment including plant equipment

• Interacts with customers or drivers to direct orassistthem

• Performs other general laborer tasks asrequired

MinimumQualifications:
